Redondo Wins Best Seafood Restaurant, Federal Way Mirror, 2016
The Federal Way Mirror asked community members who is the best in Federal Way, Kent, Auburn, Des Moines and Northeast Tacoma and residents voted in several categories of the 18th Best of Federal Way poll. The results are in and Salty's at Redondo won Best Seafood Restaurant, an award we've been proud to receive annually since the year 2000! Salty's also won Best Asian Restaurant (well, heck, we are known for fresh seafood and Asians are picky about seafood being very fresh), plus two second place awards, Best Buffet and Best Bartender. It's not the first time Tawna Gogolin won runner-up for Best Bartender, she also won in 2013. She's pictured here with her regulars (left to right) Leslie Dizon, Kim and Bo Corby, Wayne Johnson, Heidi Mittlestadt and Paul Kroeger (one of our fave musicians).
Tawna has been bartending for 25 years with 20 years at Salty’s. "I feel like it is my home away from home. I love going to work and seeing all of my regulars and coworkers, which to me are my extended friends and family. It makes my job a fun place to be," says Tawna. She says her fave drink is wine but she has a cocktail recipe for you to try at home:
"Made in Washington" Manhattan
1 1/2 ounces Woodinville Whiskey
1/4 ounce broVo Jammy Vermouth
1/4 ounce broVo Amoro #1
Stir over ice, strain into a chilled cocktail glass and serve it straight up.
Winning best seafood restaurant and best Asian restaurant put a big smile on our new Chef Josh Green's face. He hails previously from Ponti Seafood Grill, a quintessential fusion restaurant where he cut his teeth, so Asian is a comfortable flavor base for him. He's says, "I will continue to have Asian-influenced dishes as I am a Northwest boy and I have had those influences around me my whole life and culinary career." Watch for new Redondo menus coming soon.
