If you're in downtown Seattle, you want to take a ferry ride across Elliott Bay on the West Seattle Water Taxi. It whisks you across the bay to within steps of Salty's and the beach. Just head to Pier 50 on the waterfront and hop on the ferry. During the Water Taxi summer schedule, from April 8 through October 30, 2016, bring your receipt with you and you'll receive free cup of chowder (you must have a receipt showing the same date as your visit to Salty's).
After lunch or dinner at Salty's, take the time to stroll along the 2.5-mile-long beach and be mesmerized by the views of Elliott Bay, the gorgeous Seattle skyline with the Cascades behind it, wild life like blue heron, eagles, seals and sea lions, not to mention giant container ships and Coast Guard vessels, plying the waters. Continue on and eventually you'll find Puget Sound around the corner with views of the snow-topped Olympic Mts.

Be sure to watch for Salty's eagle nesting in the trees above the restaurant, it's just across Harbor Avenue. The nest is high up in an Alder hidden from view in the summer when the tree is in full dress. Before you head to Salty's, check out the West Seattle Water Taxi schedule. Making a reservation is highly recommended.
